Liturgy of the Word for Children

During the Liturgy of the Word, children ages 5 - 9 are "sent forth from the assembly (people in the pews), so that they might hear the story of salvation in words that they might understand."  The children learn that what takes place in the room is a duplication of what happens in the sanctuary, except that children are allowed to discuss and respond to the readings and gospel which are geared to their underestanding.

Parents are encouraged to send their children to go to celebrate the Word of God.  They also need to remind their children of the meaning and purpose before they leave the assembly.  Children are not going out to be entertained, or to be with their friends.  If they see it as such, they do not understand the intent behind sending them out.

If anyone is interested in serving as a catechist (leader) for Liturgy of the Word for Children, please call the Pastoral Center and indicate that you would like to be trained.  It is a distinct privilege to proclaim God's Word to the children of this parish!

RCIA

RCIA - The process by which Adults become Catholic

Are you interested in learning more about the Catholic Church?

Are you unbaptized but recognize a need for spirituality in your life?

Are you baptized Catholic or baptized into another religion but never received any formal religious education?

Are you married to a Catholic and attend Mass but just don't know what the next step is to becoming one of the Catholic faithful?

If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions, then the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the place for you.  Every year, adults are welcomed into the Catholic Community through RCIA.  It is a learning and loving process in which conversion of the heart brings you to Jesus Christ who is our Lord and Savior.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and find life burdensome, and I will refresh you.  Take my yoke upon your shoulders and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart.  Your souls will find rest, for my yoke is easy and my burden light."    Matthew 11:28-30
